Phil Vickery is well-known for showing off his skills on TV programmes including This Morning and Ready Steady Cook. Tonight, he is back on screens giving advice on how to cook healthy and affordable meals on Save Money: Good Diet. Speaking to Express.co.uk, he shared his tips on the best ways to cook quick and healthy meals and the diet tips he swears by. The star also gave an insight into exactly what he does to stay healthy at home with TV presenter Fern Britton, 61.

Working in a Michelin star restaurant, Phil learned how to make impressive dishes which tasted great.
However, as he began sharing recipes on TV and in his books, he realised how important it was to make sure what he was cooking was also healthy.
Phil told Express.co.uk: "As I have got older and on television you have a duty of care to make sure you give the correct information.
"When I'm cooking on television and in the books I write I've made a decision to cut down on fat, cut down on sugar and carbohydrates.
"That was one thing, at the same time, I made a conscious decision to cut down the amount of salt I was using in my cooking. Chef's just chuck it in."
"I am a huge advocate of canned food and it has long been a fixture in my home cooking because of its many benefits – a key one being the quality of the food available in cans," Phil added.
"I use a lot of frozen stuff and a lot of canned stuff. I have no problem using frozen salmon, pollock, cod, haddock, all off those. Frozen prawns are half the price."

He revealed these tips are something he also does when cooking at home with his family.
Phil explained: "My wife has a great saying, the only health food shop you need is the supermarket.
"Everything you need to eat healthily, you can buy in the supermarket. It's not rocket science."
He also also revealed how they manage to keep costs low when trying to eat healthy.
He said: "My wife will buy four cans of tomatoes, we've already got four in the cupboard. Certainly check your cupboards and buy sensibly."

For those trying to live a healthy lifestyle and shape up, the chef shared his tips on how to get started.
He told Express.co.uk: "The best place for them to start is simply with real food. Simple food cooked properly is the golden rule, I don't care as long as you can buy it in the supermarket.
"There's not one thing that's bad for you, what's bad for you is the amount you put in your body and that's my mantra and I've said it for years.
"You have to be aware, look at the labels. Look at the sugar content, look at the carbohydrates content. Just buy sensibly."
Phil is supporting the Love Canned Food initiative, which aims to to educate people about the benefits of canned food as an affordable, nutritious and versatile part of their daily diet.
Phil is currently appearing on Save Money: Good Diet to help Britons find out how to make affordable and nutritious meals.
Recently, the series Save Money: Lose Weight tried helped slimmers find out which diet worked out the cheapest for them to lose weight on.
One woman followed the Scandi Sense diet to help her lose an impressive one stone in four weeks.
